It is with great pleasure and pride the Lakeshore Football Association is able to announce the naming of two new head coaches to its youth-football organization.
We are extremely excited to announce that Ali Ajram will pilot the Lakeshore peewee team this year, while Jesse Roberts will take the helm of the association’s atom squad.
Ajram will replace Julian Ramsay, who had to step away from the association for family reasons. He will be joined on the peewee staff by defensive co-ordinator Glen Cooper, special-teams co-ordinator Kris Parent, offensive assistant Marc Lalonde, defensive assistants Ted Stote and Ian Breck, as well as wide receivers coach Luke Jardin and offensive line coach Jason Pate.
“It’s going to be similar to last year’s staff, but we are very, very excited to have Ali Ajram in place as our peewee head coach,” said Lakeshore Football Association president Ted Stote.
Ajram played university football at the University of Ottawa before going onto coach at both U of O and York University in the Ontario University Association (OUA) league. Ajram can also boast youth-football coaching credentials at all levels both in Canada and the United States.
“His background and coaching career speak for themselves,” Stote said. “We’re also very excited to surround Ali with most of the same coaches as last season. We are confident the peewee team will be fast, smart and aggressive on the field again this season,” after the peewee Cougars went undefeated and won the Ligue de Football de Montreal Metropolitain (LFMM) President’s Cup championship last season under head coach Trevor Lovig.
The peewee team will begin practice (shorts and t-shirts only) for the 2020 season July 16 at Christmas Park elementary school in Beaconsfield at 7:15 p.m. Regular practices in pads will begin July 20 and 22nd at 6:30 p.m. at our home field Parc des Benevoles in Kirkland. Players are asked to show up at 6:15 p.m. Regular practice schedule begins July 27 each Monday, Wednesday and Friday night until the season begins.
For the peewee team, equipment will be handed out at two separate sessions at the Parc des Benevoles equipment room in Kirkland. Parents will receive a separate email with sign-up sheets for either July 13 from 6 to 9 p.m. or July 18 from 9 a.m. to noon. Ten-minute slots will be available for sign up to conform to social-distancing procedures.
In related news, new atom head coach Jesse Roberts takes over the reins from Kris Parent, who also helped the atom team win an LFMM President’s Cup of their own last season. Parent will stay on the atom staff alongside offensive co-ordinator Eugene McLaren and assistants Stephen Conroy, Isabelle Cornell, Matt Andre, Luis Gutierrez and Joe Lin. The tykes coaching staff will be led by Roberts and he’ll be assisted by Eric Mueller, John Thompson, Gabriel He, Nick Stephan and Adrian Kerr
“Jesse’s keen eye for organization and his boundless enthusiasm for football is going to help solidify our already-successful atom program. We think he and his staff will bring a ton of great experience to this developmental program,” Stote said.
Both teams have moved to the Montreal Regional Football League
(MRFL) for the 2020 season. Schedules have not yet been released, but local associations are hoping to start games by the end of August.
